Whether you are new to website building or have huge experience in development, you can easily create anything you would like on the monitor. The only question is – HOW? Of course, you can hire a team consisting of designers, developers, SEO managers to create a custom built website which won’t let you manage any aspect of it or you can use a content management system.

There are about 31% of websites that use a CMS. You can see below the graph shows the historical trend in the percentage of websites using CMS from September 1, 2011 till September 19, 2012. This trend is because CMS makes your life easier. So, its really a no brainer to build a website on a CMS. More difficult to determine is the most appropriate content management system.

New technology has forced us to reconsider our faces in more ways than one.
Consider the recent news, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, that the body part inspiring more people to go under the knife is the chin.  ”Chinplants” are becoming the fastest growing cosmetic surgery trend.
The growth in online video conferencing has been identified as the motivation. Now we are forced to look at our own faces beyond the limitations of a bathroom mirror. We analyze, analyze and then analyze some more.

  • Drupal 7 vs WordPress 3 – Which one is for you?

I’ve penned a report about this matter earlier (Should you use WordPress or Drupal?) in January, 2010,  and I am sure you recognize that a year in internet technologies equals an eternity.  At the time of the previous article no one (all right, virtually no one), would dare pronounce that WordPress represents a functional content management system, and only hardcore drupal developers would use Drupal for a basic blog website. Since both systems developed and published major version upgrade releases, the playing fields have changed. And that invites a rewrite about this topic, that all web designers / developers face once in a while; should they select the simpleness and sleekness of WordPress or modularity and ease of development of Drupal?

Back in 1999, when Larry Ellison joined the Apple board, skeptics were suggesting that Larry’s involvement would disrupt the steady growth of his own company, Oracle Corporation. Actually, the opposite proved true and in the following years Oracle, the largest software company and champion of database management systems, grew at an unprecedented rate: Sales eclipsing $6.2 billion and a 44.6% a market share by 2004.  Since business software such as ERP – enterprise resource planning and CRM – customer relationship management provided a major boost to productivity, many large companies spent many months, and many millions, focused on development — making Larry a billionaire.

Linkedin has been a part of my vocabulary really since its launch.  While I have been striving to build my online business networking world for years, it has only been recently that I have started to see its power and success.  The impetus to write this post actually came about through an incident I recently heard from one of my good friends.  It definitely wasn’t LinkedIn’s first success story nor will it be the last, however, it was one that happened with such fluidity and simplicity that it really made it a defining moment for me in my relationship with LinkedIN.

I will finally admit.  I have been googled.  I could be referring to the easy ability to uncover all online dirt on anyone by searching their name in google which I will candidly reveal is something I do all the time when hearing of a potential client or person.  In fact, Ken Auletta in his book entitled, “Googled: The end of the world as we know it”, uses the term googled in this type of context as he says in his opening line, “The world has been googled.  Type a question in the google search box, as do more than 70 percent of all searchers worldwide, and in about half a second answers appear.”  While wikipedia stays away from an official position on the term googled, Urban Dictionary ventures to define, “To do an internet search on someone/ something..”

Is social media starting to get you confused as an entrepreneur?  With so many social media platforms and little time for building actual sales, entrepreneurs and business owners are starting to get “social mediafried”.  In an attempt to help solve these issues, marketing companies have been aggressively offering Social Media Marketing, large conglomerates have created new executive level positions such as CSMO (Chief Social Media Officer), and billions of dollars are now being pushed toward social media marketing.
